Whakatū Marae and Founders Heritage Park

The 12th Annual Australasian Facilitators' Network (AFN) Conference will be held at the Whakatū Marae and Founders Heritage Park in the heart of Nelson, New Zealand.

A stay in Nelson is one of life’s pleasures.

Whakatū marae, one of seven marae in the region, is a sign of the revival of Nelson–Marlborough’s eight tribes. Along with new marae projects there are educational and health facilities; they also provide training programmes, and have developed significant commercial fishing and aquaculture businesses.

Founders Heritage Park is a historic village containing many of the old historic buildings and artefacts of Nelson. Nelsonians created this historic townscape featuring real and period buildings, much as they were in colonial days of the 19th century.

Renowned for being New Zealand's sunniest spot, Nelson offers creative culture, spectacular natural beauty and an abundance of local produce in a central and accessible location.

About the Australasian Facilitators Network

The Australasian Facilitators Network (AFN) is a self-organising community of practitioners based in Australia, New Zealand, South-East Asia and the Pacific, who have been meeting since 1992.

The Annual AFN Conference began in 1998.  At this event, professional and voluntary facilitators gather to ‘sharpen the saw’, reflect, discuss, challenge, learn, share, meet, mix, create and recreate.  It is a not-for-profit conference organised by volunteers on behalf of their peers.

About the International Association of Facilitators

AFN is pleased to be part of the Affiliate Facilitator Network of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF).

The IAF is the world-wide professional body established to promote, support and advance the art and practice of professional facilitation through methods exchange, professional growth, practical and published research, and collegial networking.  It is dedicated to growing facilitators and encouraging the use of group process methodologies worldwide.
